Abstract

The article discusses the principles of functioning of one of the largest databases in the world - the Schengen Information System (SIS). The article describes the history of the creation of the system, its genesis, and the goals it is supposed to achieve. The system's evolution was described, particularly the development of the second-generation system (SIS II). The article presents the basic functionalities of the system and its role in ensuring security and public order.
